Percy Fowl Reads: Divergent

By: Vijay Chirumamilla

Divergent is a great book by Veronica Roth.  This book was actually one of the few dystopian novel I have ever read. This book had started of in a way that most dystopian do but it proved to be diverging from the rest. The book had many different interesting story elements that changed the plot of the story. The book took place in dystopian Chicago which is where the main character Beatrice Prior lives. In the world that Beatrice lives there are five factions. You are born into a faction and you can leave the faction when you are somewhere in your seventeenth year. The five factions are Abnegation, Erudite, Dauntless, Amity, and Candor.

This book was a great read and I would recommend to anyone who likes to read dystopian novels or anyone who liked The Hunger Games. I give this book a 4.75 out of 5 for a dystopian. I know that to some people that might be offending but this book took a while to develop  and even though Roth put plenty of time in the characters, I feel like that some of the characters should have been more developed. Nevertheless, this was a great book.
