The eighth grade Lady Panthers have gone 11-2 so far this season. After going 5-0, the lady panthers suffered a heartbreaking lose to Silver Creek to end their streak. It was a well fought game ending with a score of 23-25 the second match. These girls also lost to Highland Hills at the Round Robin tournament during the championship game. They fought hard but it wasn’t enough to beat the jags.
Team captain, Riley Winslow, thinks their biggest rival is Highland Hills. We asked her what are some skills that the team could work on to beat the jags at the tournament. She said “We need to start encouraging each other. If we do that, then we will do well.” She also said her and the team could work on their consistency and being more aggressive on the court.
Megan Mumphrey, one of the middle hitters, has a different opinion on who the team’s biggest rival is. Megan believes its Silver Creek because they have similar skill sets and when they play them, the games are always close. She also expresses that the team should work on communication and serve receive on the court.
Next week, the Lady Panthers have the Clark/Floyd tournament. With their 11-2 record, they believe they can win. Good luck ladies, we wish the team the best of luck at the tournament.
